Earlier this year, the PANTONE Solid Coated and Uncoated catalogues were updated. All color recipes, never changed from 2010 to today, have been changed. In the new swatches (this invaluable tool is nothing more than a catalog containing all the color palettes), all PANTONE colors being mixed with the new 2023 formulas are therefore different from the previous ones
The most important innovation concerns the basic colors which have become 23 instead of the previous 18 with which one more than 2000 other colors of the range offered by Pantone are made.
Comparing an old PANTONE Solid swatch book to the new 2023 version shows clear differences between the various colors. If in past years you chose a certain PANTONE as the color of your brand (for example the orange color DUEGI Pantone 2018 U) you will need to pay attention to possible variations in tone. However, the new recipes have been studied to create less problems in the finished product such as, for example, the change in color over time, with sunlight.
In the development phase of a project or in its reconstruction it is important to keep in mind to ask our trusted printer to consult the new Pantone color samples to be sure of the result you want to obtain with the chosen colour.
Some studies have shown that it takes about two seconds for a consumer to choose a product. Anticipating the customer’s needs in an era of consumerism like today is the winning move that can determine the success or failure of a brand. In this very short time, the packaging and its visual characteristics play an important role in distinguishing itself from other brands.
Since 2000, Pantone ® has published the color of the year on the official website, which could be an excellent guide to consult for your project.
IN SUMMARY…
To ensure accuracy, we always recommend that you give our technicians a physical sample of your chosen colour, as a reference for the standard to be followed when printing.
