Packaging, wrapping, wrapping, wrapping, in our case, box: these are just some of the names with which it is possible to indicate, specifically, what is meant by packaging.
To find its official definition, article 218 of the legislative decree of 3 April 2006 helps us, which defines it as the product composed of materials of any nature, used to contain and protect certain goods, from raw materials to finished products, to allow their handling and delivery from the producer to the consumer or user, and to ensure their presentation, as well as the disposable items used for the same purpose.
Packaging is therefore, in a nutshell, the wrapping that is used to pack a certain product. But is it really just this? In addition to its specific function, packaging is in fact an integral part of the product communication itself, it transmits its specific characteristics, it communicates the brand identity and it is the first communication channel towards the possible buyer.
Another fundamental question of our days is the diffusion and presence in the daily life of packaging: the total number of references available on the market is in fact constantly increasing, the transport of goods is no longer exclusively exclusive to the large-scale distribution or sales activities to the detail, but is aimed directly at the final consumer, which is why the number of packaging has inevitably increased dramatically: to have a tangible measure of this growth, just think that, only in Italy, packaging represents 1.5% of GDP national, becoming an industry in which several thousand people are employed, all with differentiated skills.
In light of all this, in a historical moment in which humanity inevitably has to deal with anthropogenic pollution and its terrible consequences, what can one really do sustainable in the face of this sort of packaging paradox?
The imperative is: to reduce.
Avoid purchases involving disposable packaging, for example by choosing solid products that do not require special wrapping. Replace everything that is disposable (plastic shopping bags, plastic dishes and glasses, plastic bottles, disposable personal care items …) by opting for materials that are long-lasting and reusable.
As far as packaging is concerned, however, it is not always possible to reduce the actual quantity: for this reason it is absolutely necessary to use post-consumer recyclable materials, choose eco-sustainable printing solutions and use renewable energy sources for the production process, as Duegi Manufacturer now does usually for many years.
After decades of unconscious conduct on the part of producers and consumers, it is essential today to recover old habits aimed at reuse, capable of giving a second life to boxes and packaging. On the part of those who produce, the packaging design must therefore be reprogrammed on all levels, avoiding the use of unnecessary materials and by those who consume, in addition to a more prudent and respectful lifestyle, the so-called “reuse” must be implemented creative”.
The real revolution consists in being able to rethink the packaging in a completely different perspective with respect to its “container” size and to be able to give it a different location thanks to creativity and the right amount of manual skills.
Using boxes and pallets to furnish your home, using containers to organize the pantry or to order the wardrobe, creating fun games for children are just some examples of an active reuse of what would otherwise turn into yet another refusal from dispose of. In this regard, we remind you that the web is an almost infinite mine of ideas, tutorials and images to draw on to learn how to reuse with ingenuity and creativity.
Recycling is no longer a trend or a free choice, but an act due to our planet, the highest form of responsibility towards the new generations that we as a company commit ourselves to defend every day, choosing only and exclusively materials for our boxes resistant and 100% recyclable, according to a vision of sustainability and zero waste aimed not only at reducing actual waste, but also at making the environmental impact they cause less and less expensive.
